Safety Orientation

All new members are required to attend a Safety Orientation class as part of their application for SSSC membership.

Previous members who have allowed their membership to lapse and wish to rejoin–but have never attended an Orientation class–must follow the NEW MEMBER application procedure, including attending a Safety Orientation class.

Previous members who have allowed their membership to lapse and wish to rejoin–and are confirmed to have previously attended an Orientation class–must follow the NEW MEMBER application procedure, but are not required to attend another Safety Orientation class.

The purpose of Safety Orientation Program is to improve upon all aspects of safety on-and-off the range. Our objective is to communicate a consistent interpretation of the important safety rules—as well as policies, procedures and protocols for use of range facilities—via a face-to-face session and procedures.
The Orientations classes are conducted at the SSSC range, and are targeted for approximately 2 hours duration. The Club’s Range Safety Officer—or RSO designee—will conduct the orientations.
Several Orientation sessions will be scheduled immediately following the January annual membership meeting and the new and renewal membership period ending February 28th. Thereafter, the Club secretary will inform the RSO of pending membership applications, and the RSO will schedule orientations on an as-needed basis.
Upon completion of the Orientation, the RSO will submit verification of attendance to the Club secretary for continuation of the application process.
