CCW Renewal Class

CCW class for renewals will be held at the clubhouse and range by club member and certified pistol instructor Peter Swissdorf.
Renewal course is approximately 4 hours. (Includes Live-Fire & Written Exam)
Before the certificate of course completion is issued, full payment will be required. Accepted payment methods, Cash, Venmo, Zelle or Check. I do not accept credit cards.
Classroom Address/Directions: Sangre Shooting Sports Club Range/classroom is 54560 CO Hwy 69, Westcliffe, Colorado 81252. Approximately 4 miles south of Westcliffe, East side of Hwy 69.
Breaks if needed: Approximately every 60 minutes, and 30 minutes for lunch. Microwave and refrigerator available.
Class is broken down into 3 areas, Lecture, Written Exam which is an Open Book, multiple choice examination, and live-fire.
What you’ll need to bring to class:
●Ear Protection (preferably the electronic type)
●Eye Protection
●Ball Cap
●Gun (NO AMMUNITION IN THE CLASSROOM)
●Range Ammunition (FMJ, flat Nose, etc.) 100 rounds, need 50 rounds minimum to certify.
(LEAVE ALL AMMUNITION IN YOUR VEHICLE)
●At least 2 extra magazines
●Speed Loader
●Dress for the weather
●Sturdy close-toe shoes
●Strong side hip holster (recomme nd your everyday carry holster) Good quality leather or Kydexfitted for your gun. Must cover trigger guard. Mouth of the holster must stay open for ease or re-holstering”.
May be IWB or OWB.
●Magazine or speed loader pouches sufficient to hold at least 2 magazines or speed loaders
●Good leather or nylon gun belt (at least 1 inch wide)
●Conceal garment (shirt vest sweater, etc.) For class, the concealment garment should be able to be worn in the closed front or open front Button up or zip up
●Water
●Pen
●Paper for notes
●Valid CCW Permit (for renewals) or Driver’s License
Optional:
●Snack / Lunch
●Range Bag, for holding ammunition, sunscreen, lunch, etc.
●Extra Gun and ammunition for that gun in case of malfunction
●Sunscreen
For the live-fire portion of the class. You will shoot at targets at a distance of 3 and 5 yards, using one, and two handed grip methods, firing at least 50 rounds of ammunition. To pass the live-range portion, you will need to hit 80% (40 out of 50 rounds) on target.
After you successfully complete the class and passing the live-fire and written exams, you will be sent a “Certificate of completion” to your email address on file. This certificate is required to apply for your new or renewal (CCW) (CHP) at your County Sheriff’s office, following the steps outlined by your local sheriff.
If you fail the written exam or live-fire portion, you will need to reschedule/retake this course to demonstrate you have met Colorado State required standards. I will work with you to identify areas that was challenging to you. The goal is to make sure you’re fully prepared and confident to carry responsibly.
Holders/users of medical marijuana cards are not eligible to purchase firearms and therefore, not eligible for this course. Additionally, individuals involved in the marijuana industry are not eligible for this course.
